On alfaromeo164register.com i started a topic about the rearbreake caliper.
I also would inform the members over here about it.
We all know that the handbreak hendle from the rearbreak caliper most of the time got stuck due to the rust, option is to replace it for a new (about 170 euro) or a used part 20-50 euro.
I wanted to do this already a long time but to many thing and so little time.
remove the piston by using the handbreak handle, and the rubber hose, be carefull you can put them back later or replace them for new.
This is whats left.
There is a ciclip and needs to be removed, watch out there's a small spring inside it.
These are the four parts what was inside.
De handle can pulled out 1 cm.
So that was it, didn't know how to strip it more as i already did, but it's possible to remove the hendle.
I took the caliper to the Technical services at my work and asked them to make a cross section.
To remove the piston shaft use rust remover for a few hours to do it's work.
scull the shaft a little or use fitting tools to remove the metal ring.
The shaft can be removed, the little coper peg can be removed and the hendle can be pulled out now.
Now u can use whatever thats necessary to de-rost the caliper. to assemble the caliper do the above in reverse.
Watch out:!:
to replace the break piston you have to trun it clockwise.
Before you assemble it put some copergrease in the hendle hole.
Suggestions or comments are welcom.
Hope we can save the rusty calipers.
My collegue using heavy materials..
just enough rost to get the handle stucked.
